Apprenticeships


Premier School Sport Coaching recognizes the need to invest in the future island coaches and leaders.  We are working in partnership with Youthforce to offer an apprenticeship each academic year to island residents.

Youthforce is a pioneering and highly respected training provider, dedicated to developing people in the uk and globally.  The appentice will work with our experience coaches and teachers to deliver PE, physical activity and sport within island primary schools and in community activity.

We currently have two young people on our apprenticeship programme, Chloe Parkes and Ashley Goldsmith, see staff profiles for more information.

What is an Apprenticeship?

A work based training programme designed around the needs of employers, which lead to national recognised qualifications.

Apprenticeships is a work based training programme, most training is ‘on the job’ – at your premises.  In partnership with Youthforce we can provide the rest as a specialist learning provider, ensuring your apprentice increases skills, knowledge and employability.

As an apprectice you will be entitled to the following:

  • Employment for a minimum of 12 months
  • Paying a minimum of £2.65 per hour for a minimum of 30 hours per week
  • Mentoring and support

As well as the practical experience you will receive training and support to complete:

  •  NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Sports Development
  • A Technical Certificate – e.g Employment Rights and responsibilities
  • Key Skills – Literacy, Numeracy and ICT.
